- Limpkins searching for snails
- The tip of the bill usually curves slightly to the right, which may help in removing snail from curved shell.
- The bill also usually has a slight gap just behind the tips of the mandibles, which may help in carrying and manipulating the snails.
Indeed, your photos are very enjoyable, a pleasure to look at.The limpkins remind me a little of our blue herons, which hunt for small fish in shallow water. Thanks!!!

What an interesting fact about their bills – I see what you mean in the last shot with the bird in the foreground gripping what looks like a rock.
