The Louvre

The Louvre ceased to be a royal residence when Louis XIV moved his court to Versailles in 1682.

The idea of using the Louvre as a public museum originated in the 18th century.

  1. The Louvre is an excellent museum that offers so much in art, artifacts and many other branches of art and even science that one could spend weeks before one could claim to have seen it all. Thanks for sharing, Ileana!

  2. The Louvre is a very special place. When I lived in Paris in the 1970’s I went there often and spent the whole day. I felt that I went back a few centuries every time I visited and loved every minute of it.
